Egyptian authorities are investigating a video posted online that appears to show a man and a woman posing naked on top of the Great Pyramid of Giza.
The video in question was posted on YouTube by Danish photographer Andreas Hvid, who claimed to have scaled the pyramid last month, along with a photo of him and a woman on top of each other, apparently in a sexual position.
The incident sparked fury and outrage in the Muslim country, where the Great Pyramid of Giza is regarded as a national treasure.
The footage was initially thought to be fake, created with photo-editing software. However, prosecutors are now investigating its authenticity.
If the video is found to be genuine, officials who are deemed negligent are likely to be punished.

Social media users, including many in Denmark, have also criticized the pair, saying their actions were shameful and disrespectful.
Despite the backlash, Hvid has insisted the video is genuine and said that the idea of climbing the pyramid and making the shoot had excited him for some time, according to Danish media.
He also denied the pair had sex, saying they were merely posing nude for the photos.
The 4,500-year-old pyramid is one of the seven wonders of the world and scaling it is strictly forbidden.
