A Ctrip store exclusively focused on Australia's New South Wales as travel destination was launched yesterday on Shanghai's Central Tibet Road.
The road is famous for its many travel agencies including Ctrip, Jinjiang and Zhongxin, among others.
The stores' advantage over online providers are the designed travel packages. According to a Ctrip manager, 40 percent of the people who walk into a travel agency will walk out having paid for a trip, while 15 percent of the people who browsed the travel web page will book a package online. Travel apps, however, are convenient for booking flight fares and hotels, and has more travel routes than what the stores can offer.
The three top travel agencies in China, Ctrip, Qunar, and Travel Bestone, will have about 8,000 stores combined nationwide this year.
