For the first time, the G20 summit will take place in South America. Argentina, the host country, is attracting worldwide attention. Prior to the summit, Argentine Ambassador to China Diego Ramiro Guelar told CGTN in an exclusive interview that Argentina and China have many shared values, and Argentina is an important natural partner of China.

Close friend under G20

The G20 members share fundamental values, Guelar said, calling for dialogue as a core instrument in international relations instead of confrontation.
Stressing the deepening of multilateralism, he said the World Trade Organization (WTO) is highly needed especially in developing countries.

"We need international and multilateral organizations," Guelar added.
On the discussion of how a major developing country like China and a mid-developing country like Argentina are further promoting their international cooperation under the G20, Guelar hailed the close relationship between the two countries that both of them have similar fundamental values.
Guelar further explained that both Argentina and China agree in these fundamental values regarding the environmental protection and the fight against poverty, international terrorism, and drug-trafficking.

CIIE is an extraordinary exhibition

Argentina participated in the first China International Import Exhibition (CIIE) in Shanghai earlier this month. Guelar believed that this represents an extraordinary sign of China's opening up.

"Traditionally, when thinking about the big fairs in China, it was always about what China was selling to the world. But this is the first time that China proposes to hold an exhibition through which the world can sell things to China," he added.
Guelar described the expo as remarkable news as well as an extraordinary exhibition, stressing Argentina is working on how to sell more products with more added value to China.

Integral strategic partner under BRI

This year marks the fifth anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). When talking about the China-proposed initiative, Guelar said Argentina sees itself as an integral strategic partner in this initiative.

"We see ourselves as natural partners," Guelar said, adding the BRI is a great contribution of China to enable a better use of world resources.
Guelar stressed Argentina is enthusiastic and willing to continuously interact with China and with its initiative.
He also said that Argentina will boost cooperation with China in minerals, food, and infrastructure.
