CFA Cup Semi-final first leg: Beijing Guoan 5-1 Guangzhou R&F

For the 2018 Chinese Football Association Cup semi-finals first leg, Beijing Guoan defeated Guangzhou R&F by a shocking 5-1 win on August 22 in the Beijing Workers’ Stadium, nearly reserved a ticket for the Cup’s final.

Beijing Guoan just suffered their second league’s defeat for the CSL season 2018  last Saturday by a 3-0 result to Beijing Renhe in the derby game.

However, the “Palace Guards” recovered from the interlude quickly and dominated the game against the CSL current 8th-place Guangzhou R&F.

Cédric Bakambu #17 scored the opening goal for Guoan in the 14th minute in the condition that Guangzhou’s players thought Beijing was already off-sided. But 11 minutes later, R&F’s captain Lu Lin, #23 made an equalizer for the visitors.

During the 48th and 56th minutes, Jonathan Viera #23 contributed a brace with the first goal coming from his successful free-kick.

Zhang Xizhe #10 let the ball roll into the goal under R&F goalkeeper Han Feng #25’s “butter hands” in the 82nd minute, and Bakambu added a one-on-one goal to finish the game 5-1 in the injury time.

On the other side, one day before, Shandong Luneng edged out Dalian Yifang by a 14th-minute goal from Jin Jingdao, #33 at the home court of the latter team.
