On April 28, 2019, the International Horticultural Expo 2019 celebrated its grand opening in Beijing's Yanqing District. In seven years’ time, the Beijing Expo turned a wilderness into a garden of flowers which sets a vivid example and model for practicing the concept of "lucid waters and lush mountains are valuable assets." It is the highest-level international horticultural exposition held in China after the 1999 Kunming Expo.

The Beijing Expo 2019 is a platform to promote the power of horticulture in the world. Under the theme of "Live Green, Live Better," the Beijing Expo 2019 contributes to the promotion of horticultural products, as well as the general public’s appreciation of this industry.
As the host city, Beijing enjoys is bestowed with a chance to exhibit its new image as a green, low-carbon and modern city thriving on new science and technology. At the planning stage, the designing team has done comprehensive research and insisted that natural resources, including big trees, wetlands, woods and waterfronts are protected.
Though it is a newly built park with many plants recently planted, it looks very natural. In fact, the design itself is based on the local environment and conditions – the most vivid embodiment of the concept of respecting and integrating nature. It shows its uniqueness in convening a global environmental issue to a diverse public through the keywords – green, culture, innovation and architecture.

Sustainable development is one of the original intentions of the planning and design. After the Expo, the park will be transformed into a regional large-scale ecological park. The China Pavilion can be transformed into a national-level ecological museum.
Environmental protection is a common responsibility of humankind. The promotion of conservation culture should become humanity's shared goal. The Beijing Expo 2019 will build a platform for communication and exchanges that all parties will use to bridge differences and work together to cope with environmental threats.
