Each Asian country has its own ancient and glorious culture, which is unique in its own way, yet co-exists harmoniously with the others and adds to one another's radiance, said Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Asian Culture Carnival on Wednesday evening.
The Asian Culture Carnival, a celebratory event at the ongoing Conference on Dialogue of Asian Civilizations, which runs from May 15 to 22, was held at the iconic Bird's Nest stadium in Beijing.
In his speech, which was given before the start of the activity, President Xi emphasized that the diversity of Asian civilizations has made Asian cultures colorful and given them a long-lasting vitality.
He further pointed out that, ever since the ancient times, Chinese people have enshrined the philosophies of "loving people and treating neighbors kindly are treasures of a country" and "neighbors wish each other well, just as loved ones do to each other".
President Xi conveyed the Chinese people's sincere hope for Asian countries to look after and help each other, march forward in the progressive world, and work together to create a more beautiful future for both Asia and the entire world.
Famous cultural figures from across Asia and the globe, such as Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli and Asian action superstar Jackie Chan, are expected to perform at the Asian Culture Carnival.
