China's 35th Antarctic Expedition Team entered the Antarctic Circle on Friday, days ahead of schedule thanks to new technologies. With the help of real-time information on ice conditions, as well as meteorological and other satellite cloud maps, the team’s icebreaker “Xuelong” skillfully crossed the westerly belt, and avoided the impact of offshore cyclones. Xuelong has won three extra days for the team to unload 1,621 tons of goods and materials from the ship to Antarctica.
