Four panda cubs are looking for names, and to find them, a contest has been launched by the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda and the city government of Dujiangyan, in southwest China’s Sichuan Province on Tuesday.

People from around the world can suggest names for four male pandas born at the center last year using Chinese social media platform, WeChat. The organizers will shortlist 20 names from public submissions and the most popular four names will be used as official names for them. The process will take around one month.
Also, 100 of the participants will win prizes such as trips to well-known scenic areas or panda parks in Sichuan, including flights, hotels, and entrance tickets.

At present, there are 14 wild giant pandas living in the Longxi-HongKou national nature reserve and over 30 pandas living in the Dujiangyan base of the China Giant Panda Protection and Research Center, which is seen as a paradise for giant pandas.
Giant pandas are listed as a vulnerable species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature. Official data showed that as of the end of 2013, there were fewer than 2,000 pandas living in the wild, mainly in the mountains of Sichuan.
