Russia, Iran and Turkey have agreed that the committee to create a new Syrian constitution should convene early next year. The plan for the body was formed during talks backed by the three powers. They said they hope the body will kickstart a viable peace process. The committee has become the centerpiece of UN peace efforts in Syria. It aims to set up elections that can turn the page on seven years of civil war.
