The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) has called for a joint celebration to mark the anniversary of the 2000 inter-Korean summit this month in the Republic of Korea (ROK), Reuters quoted an official in Seoul as saying.
The call came as delegates from both sides held high-level talks at the truce village of Panmunjom on Friday morning.
Late DPRK top leader Kim Jong Il and then ROK President Kim Dae-jung held a historical summit in June 2000, which resulted in the June 15 Joint Declaration, which calls for achieving national reunification.
Officials, politicians and members of the private sector from both sides should take part in the event, an ROK official from the Unification Ministry quoted the DPRK delegates as saying during the meeting.

The talks kicked off at about 10 a.m. local time (0100 GMT) at the Peace House, a building on the South Korean side of Panmunjom.
The meeting aimed at discussing follow-up measures to the agreements that ROK President Moon Jae-in and DPRK leader Kim Jong Un reached in their summits held on April 27 and May 26.
