Located in northwest China's Gansu Province, the Zhangye Danxia National Geological Park covers an area of 322 square kilometers and is famous for its colorful rock formations.
During the 2018 National Day holiday, the Danxia National Geological Park was crammed with large numbers of tourists who came to visit the colorful Danxia landform.
Danxia landform is a unique type of geomorphology that exists mostly in China. It is formed from layered red-colored sandstones and is often characterized by steep cliffs. The word "Danxia" means red clouds in Chinese, which corresponds to the vibrant red color of the sandstones.
In 2009, Zhangye Danxia was chosen by Chinese National Geography magazine as one of the "six most beautiful landforms" in China.
