The Plum Flower Hill is located at the southern foot of the Zijin Mountain, to the southwest of Sun Yat-sen's Mausoleum, and south of UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site Xiaoling Mausoleum of the Ming Dynasty in Nanjing City, capital of south China's Jiangsu Province.
The Plum Flower Hill, spanning over 1,500 acres, has nearly 360 varieties of plum blossoms, and more than 40,000 trees of plum blossoms. The blooming time differs from year to year depending on the weather. However, the mountain wears its best look from mid-February to mid-March.

This year, the best viewing time will last for 20 days, and the blossom season will extend until mid-March.
There's still rain and snow that provide natural source of water to the plants. Also, the low temperature slows down the growth of flowers, extending their lifespan, allowing visitors more time to appreciate the beauty.
In Chinese culture, plum flowers symbolize strength. Ancient Chinese poets often described the spirit of standing tall in harsh cold conditions using the plum flower.
Flowers rarely bloom during the winter, while plum flowers are the only ones to embrace the cold with no intention of joining the busy floral season of spring, claiming the title of the "winter beauty queen".
