China's 10th National Paralympics and Seventh National Special Olympics had a soft launch on Saturday with a marathon in Tianjin Municipality, in northern China.
The tournaments are only due to kick off on August 25 and run until September 1, but some events are being held ahead of time.
In Saturday's marathon, 79 athletes competed in eight groups, including wheelchair racing.
This year's National Paralympics and National Special Olympics will see an expanded number of disciplines, beyond table tennis, badminton, or marathon.
Previous editions of the National Paralympics held Chinese chess and dart games for the public, and this edition will add Go, wheelchair dancing and rope skipping games.
