Shaoguan is a modern urban center at the confluence of three rivers, with a hilly, lush backdrop offering phenomenal panoramas, particularly from up high. Just north of the downtown area is Shaoguan's finest feature – Mount Danxia, a UNESCO World Heritage scenic mountain range.

Here, you can behold breathtaking vistas of steep red cliffs – a geomorphological feature formed of sandstone and conglomerate, now officially referred to as a Danxia landform. The area is also famous for rock formations that resemble parts of the human reproductive anatomy.
