Su Hui, vice chairperson of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and chairperson of the central committee of the Taiwan Democratic Self-Government League, called for people from both sides to join hands to promote the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations at the gathering to commemorate the 40th anniversary of issuing "Message to Compatriots in Taiwan" on Wednesday.
