A 5.1-magnitude earthquake jolted Ningjiang District, Songyuan City in northeast China's Jilin Province, at 6:24 a.m. on Saturday, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC).
The quake struck at a depth of 10 km.
There are no reports of casualties so far.
Tremors have been felt in nearby areas, including Changchun, Harbin and Daqing.
The emergency response system is active in the city, the department said.
