Chinese President Xi Jinping returned to Beijing on Saturday morning after a three-day state visit to Russia where he attended the 23rd St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

Xi's state visit comes as the two countries celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties.

China and Russia agreed to upgrade their relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era, a decision made at a meeting between President Xi and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on Wednesday.
