Africans Desisa, Keitany win races at NYC Marathon

During the New York City Marathon on Sunday, Kenya's Mary Keitany became the second woman to win the race four times and did so with the second fastest time ever. The men's race was won by another African, as Ethiopia's Lelisa Desisa edged one of his compatriots at the finish line.

Shura Kitata of Ethiopia was leading a group of four runners, but he was edged at the end by his fellow Ethiopian Desisa, who finished in two hours, five minutes, 59 seconds, just 1.99 seconds ahead of Kitata.

Keitany claimed her fourth title in more comfortable fashion in a time of two hours, 22 minutes, and 48 seconds, just 17 seconds slower than the race record set by Kenya's Margaret Okayo in 2003.

Manuela Schar of Switzerland won the women's wheelchair race for the second year in a row. Tatyana McFadden of the US won the second and Zou Lihong of China finished third.
