The 135th Nice Carnival, one of the biggest carnivals in the world, kicked off in France on February 16 with the theme of "King of Cinema".
The cheerful multi-colored parades took place around the Place Masséna and the Albert 1er gardens, made up of 17 giant floats and more than 1,000 dancers and musicians from different parts of the world.
This year's carnival parade not only pays tribute to the film giants, but features caricatures of politicians as well, including U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The Nice Carnival has become an annual party that usually falls in February. It began in 1873 but went on hiatus during the First and Second World Wars.
Besides from the carnival parades, there will also be traditional flower and light parades during the two-week long event, which runs until March 2.
