Trump says not disturbed that DPRK has 'fired off some small weapons'

U.S. President Donald Trump on Saturday dismissed concerns about recent missile launches from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and said he was confident that the country's leader, Kim Jong Un, would keep promises that he had made.

“North Korea (DPRK) fired off some small weapons, which disturbed some of my people, and others, but not me. I have confidence that Chairman Kim will keep his promise to me,” he said on Twitter.

Trump's remarks came after U.S. National Security Adviser John Bolton said on Saturday that DPRK's recent missile launches violated a U.N. Security Council resolution.

Earlier this month Kim oversaw the first flight of a previously untested weapon - a relatively small, fast missile.

Trump is currently in Japan on a state visit.

Trump's four-day "date," starting Saturday, with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in Japan, will focus on several important topics, such as the DPRK issues, the U.S.- Japan trade issues, and the upcoming G7 summit.

Trump's schedule for May 25-28 'date' (as Nikkei reported):

Day 1: Arrival, meeting with business staffs

Day 2: Playing golf, attending the Summer Grand Sumo Tournament and presenting trophy to the winner, and later having dinner at a traditional Japanese charcoal grill restaurant

Day 3: Meeting Japan's newly enthroned Emperor Naruhito, meeting with Abe, meeting with family members of Japanese nationals allegedly abducted by the DPRK, attending a banquet at the imperial palace

Day 4: Inspecting Japan's Kaga helicopter carrier
