China backs the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in maintaining its stability and promoting socio-economic development, Chinese President Xi Jinping said during a meeting with the African nation's Prime Minister Bruno Tshibala at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Thursday.
Xi said that China will work more with the DRC to reach the goal of becoming an emerging country before 2030.
China is willing to continue to help the DRC to enhance its peacekeeping capabilities and actively participate in UN peacekeeping operations in the DRC, the Chinese president said.
Tshibala said that the DRC attaches great importance to the bilateral ties and wants to boost cooperation with Beijing.
The just-concluded Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) fully reflects China's emphasis on Africa, he noted.
The DRC will actively participate in the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), he added.
