Fire erupts in central Beijing’s Shuangjing

A fire erupted Thursday night in a residential building in Shuangjing, central Beijing’s Chaoyang district.
Beijing Fire Protection News said on Weibo that 59 fire engines were dispatched to the scene, extinguishing the fire at about 10:40 p.m.

According to local residents, smoke was seen coming from the lower stories of the building around 8 p.m., and it quickly spread to the upper floors, setting the entire building ablaze.
Loud explosions were also reportedly heard by residents in neighboring buildings.
Local police say no one was in the building at the time of the fire. No casualties were reported.

The four-story building is located inside the Chuiyangliubeili residential community in Chaoyang District, approximately 8 kilometers east of Tiananmen Square.
The building was undergoing exterior renovation when it caught fire. Residents say a circuit shortage might have been the cause, as the investigation continues.
5km
