The Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) is looking toward the future after staging the inaugural Mini CBA Forum on the campus of Tsinghua University. This summit was proposed during the country's annual political event known as the Two Sessions, by league President Yao Ming.
More than 100,000 elementary schoolers and 15,000 youth teams participated in the inaugural session of the Mini CBA, with games taking place in over 100 cities across the nation.
Last weekend's summit in Beijing served as a celebration of a successful first campaign, with Yao addressing everyone at the forum, and urging the continuation of this grassroots effort to further develop basketball across China.

CBA Vice President Bai Xilin then announced a new set of work plans and released an updated slogan, "Make the Ordinary Extraordinary," which is meant to describe the league's push to expand the country's population of hoops-playing teenagers.
Teachers, coaches, and other experts were also in attendance at this event, and shared their perspectives on what went well, and suggested possible improvements, for future editions of the Mini CBA.

"The Mini CBA has received support from all over society,” said Yao. “And the response has been great. But we need to keep moving and keep thinking about how to develop more mini basketball functions across a wider area, so we need everyone's suggestions and hard work. That is why we are holding this forum after spending the whole year experiencing different things, and we are trying to influence more parents to support the Mini CBA, and see the benefits for their children."
