Controversial Tanauan mayor dead after flag ceremony shooting

Antonio Halili, mayor of Tanauan, Batangas was shot dead by an unidentified gunman during a flag raising ceremony on Monday.
He was shot in the chest and his death was pronounced at 8:45 a.m. local time by a doctor at hospital, according to CNN citing police.

An investigation into the case has been opened by local forces but no information is currently available on the suspect.
Halili was known for his controversial "walk of shame" campaign to control the spread of illegal drugs.
