Massive shakes were felt across several provinces in Ecuador as a powerful 6.2-magnitude earthquake jolted central part of the country on Thursday night, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS).
The quake, which occurred at 9:12 p.m. local time, was recorded at a depth of 93.5 kilometers in south central Ecuador's Chimborazo area.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage, while the temblor was felt across several cities including the capital Quito and Guayaquil.
Ecuador suffered a 7.8-magnitude earthquake in April 2016, which caused heavy casualties and tens of thousands homeless.
