Putin invites Kim Jong Un to visit Russia in September

Russian President Vladimir Putin asked Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) official Kim Yong Nam at their meeting on Thursday to pass an invitation to visit Russia in September to DPRK leader Kim Jong Un.
Kim Yong Nam, the president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK, went to Moscow to attend the FIFA World Cup opening ceremony.

During the meeting, Kim Yong Nam handed a written message to Putin from Kim Jong Un, the DPRK's top leader.
Putin conveyed appreciation for the letter, while also welcoming the meeting between Kim Jong Un and US President Donald Trump, which took place in Singapore on Tuesday.

The Russian president spoke highly of all the peaceful actions the DPRK side has taken to soothe the tensions on the Korean Peninsula. He also vowed that Russia will continue to make positive contributions to the Korean Peninsula issues.
Kim Yong Nam mentioned Kim Jong Un's guidance toward DPRK-Russia ties, saying he hopes to see more exchanges between the two sides in all respects.
