A sinkhole appeared at around 2:30 a.m. in Dazhou City, southwest China's Sichuan Province on Sunday. All four passersby were killed. A second cave-in occurred during the rescue. Sinkholes typically form when acidic rainwater dissolves limestone or similar rocks beneath the soil, leaving a large void that collapses.
