The current situation in the South China Sea has stabilized and cooled down, and more positive progress is expected to be made, said the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) on Friday.
Geng Shuang, spokesman from the MOFA, made the remarks when he answered a question about the upcoming meetings on the implementation of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea (DOC).
The 15th Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM) on the Implementation of the DOC will be held in Changsha, central China’s Hunan Province on June 27, announced Geng, adding that Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Kong Xuanyou will attend the meeting.
China will continue to exchange views with ASEAN countries on issues including the implementation of the DOC, promotion of practical maritime cooperation and consultations on a Code of Conduct, said Geng.
