Pakistan television producer Sohail Akhter says that many people in his country are like him — they are very eager to read reports about China, not just about its economy, but also about its society. However, there is a language barrier and lack of access to such resources, so he is at the second CGTN Global Media Summit and the eighth Video Media Forum to improve media cooperation between China and Pakistan.
“I don't have access to Chinese stories in Pakistan, about Chinese culture and Chinese society,” Akhter, from Pakistan's PTV, told CGTN in an interview at the summit.
“We want to embrace China, so it is good to be here, to learn about media and all the developments in China,” Akhter noted, adding that he is glad to read lots of China-related stories written in English on CGTN and other China-based English news platforms.
In the interview, Akhter also shared his career path with CGTN — how he went from being a videographer to an independent journalist. He thinks that knowing how to film and being versed in studio techniques are very important as the media industry has entered the digital era.
The CGTN Global Media Summit kicked off on Tuesday in southwest China's Chongqing City and concluded on Wednesday. People in the media industry from all over the world came together to share experiences and explore the future of the industry.
