The China-EU joint statement shows that shared interests between China and the EU outweigh the differences, said Lu Kang, a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, during a regular press conference on Tuesday.
It is common to see differences between countries, but differences can be resolved through dialogue, said Lu, adding that the statement indicates the high-level of the China-EU comprehensive strategic partnership.

China and the EU Tuesday signed a joint statement following Chinese Premier Li Keqiang's arrival in Brussels on Monday, his first overseas trip this year. In the statement, the two sides reaffirmed their commitment to multilateralism.
According to Lu, the joint statement shows China and the EU respect international law and fundamental norms governing international relations with the UN at the core. Given the multiple challenges, the statement also shows the determination of the two parties in upholding multilateralism and enhancing cooperation.
