China and India, two giant developing countries, have a lot of similarities as well as concerns and views. The two sides are both major forces in multi-polarization and economic globalization, as well as key players in the promotion of world peace, stability and prosperity.
Lu Kang, spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, made the remarks during Monday's regular media briefing, referring to the informal meeting between the leaders of the two countries later this month.
Developing ties between the two sides tops the agenda of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Wuhan, central China's Hubei Province.
Lu noted that, as two significant emerging economies with populations of more than a billion people each, China and India share way more common interests than differences and thus cooperation and mutual development are the only choices for the two sides.
The meeting between the two leaders hopes to push the relationship between China and India a step forward, and benefit people from both countries.
