Turkey's High Election Board (YSK) on Wednesday cited a series of irregularities, notably in the appointment of polling station officials, in justifying its annulment of March's mayoral election in Istanbul. The March election was a setback for President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's AK Party after the vote gave the victory to the opposition. It ended the AK party's 25-year rule. Istanbul is set to hold a rerun on June 23, a move that has faced harsh criticism from opposition parties.
