The 2017 Chinese Film Festival kicked off in Budapest on Sunday, with international film star Jackie Chan presenting his latest production “Kung Fu Yoga‍” at the opening ceremony.
The festival, which runs until April 29, is jointly organized by China's State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television (SAPPRFT), the Chinese embassy in Hungary and the Hungarian Ministry of Human Resources.

"Chinese cinema has a rich history of more than 110 years, and went through major reforms and development over the last ten years," said Zhang Zhang Hongsen, head of the SAPPRFT’s film bureau, describing China as “an international powerhouse in film productions."
Hungarian Minister of Human Resources Zoltan Balog added that: "Chinese and Hungarians and Europeans have a common language, and that language is no other than the language of culture, which we would like to speak more often and better."
Jackie Chan meanwhile told reporters he would be considering making a film in Hungary. "Hungary is a place where I have always wanted to come, the scenery here is really beautiful," he said.
Aside from “Kung Fu Yoga”, four other movies are to be screened at the festival, including “Xuan Zang”, a Tang Dynasty-era biography;  “Book of Love”, a romantic comedy; action film “Operation Mekong”, and the drama “Mountains may depart.”
