China and the Philippines have reached agreements worth billions of dollars during a visit by Chinese Commerce Minister Zhong Shan and his meeting with President Rodrigo Duterte. Trade officials have confirmed that China has committed to financing at least three infrastructure projects in the Philippines valued at 3.4 billion US dollars. The projects include railways and irrigation.
The Philippines and China are also expected to sign a six-year agreement on economic and trade cooperation later in March. According to Zhong, the two countries can jointly promote the Belt and Road Initiative and work on additional infrastructure projects.
