In South Africa, three Chinese nationals were reportedly assaulted, robbed and shot while checking into a hotel near Johannesburg's international airport on Saturday night.
The three Chinese nationals were checking in at the Holiday Inn hotel in Boksburg at about 10 o'clock local time. The hotel is very close to OR Tambo International airport, when they were attacked by three men.
All three visitors were assaulted and one of them was shot in the upper body. The gun shot victim is still in an undisclosed hospital receiving treatment. The other two were discharged after being treated for injuries after being pistol whipped.
The three robbers made off with luggage, personal items and an undisclosed amount of cash.
The police confirmed to CGTN that they immediately launched a manhunt for the three robbers and have confirmed that they have opened cases of attempted murder, robbery and assault with a deadly weapon.
It's still unclear whether this robbery is another in a spate of robberies of a gang targeting tourists arriving at the airport and then robbing them in or near the hotels they are checking into.
For now the manhunt continues, and CGTN will have more updates on this developing story.
