Former Taiwan leader Ma Ying-jeou was found not guilty on Tuesday of confidential information leaks in 2013, according to local media.
The case against Ma was filed by Democratic Progressive Party legislator Ker Chien-ming, who was accused of improper political lobbying with then-Legislative Speaker Wang Jin-pyng of Kuomintang.
Ker alleged that Ma leaked details from the ongoing criminal investigation obtained by then-prosecutor-general Huang Shih-ming by wiretapping telephone conversations in 2013.
Ma repeatedly stressed his innocence in an earlier hearing at the Taipei District Court, saying Ker filed the lawsuit to distract public attention from the improper lobbying case.
