Who does not want a McFlurry or a hot fudge sundae once in a while? Better think twice now.

A man from Laplace, Louisiana, USA who claimed to be an ex-worker of McDonald's posted photos of dirty ice cream machine drip and other food-making machines.

The tray was filled with sticky goo and mold. The man who goes by the name @nick on Twitter also unveiled photos of other messy spots in the kitchen, including goo-covered floors.

In the past ten days, @nick’s post has been retweeted for over 13,000 times. McDonald’s stock point fell 1.3 on July 25 in one hour, which means the company lost 100 million US dollars in just an hour. Steve Easterbrook, CEO of McDonald’s, admitted this is the largest public crisis of the firm.

It also attracted media’s attention – many media outlets in the UK and the US claimed these photos were putting customers off from buying McFlurrys forever. The scandal even sparked inquiries all the way to McDonald’s China.

US media Huffington Post interviewed @nick who noted he saw no one ever cleaned the ice cream drip even if his managers were supposed to clean it. When he said he would like to clean it up after work, the manager stopped him as over time subsidies will be a cost to the restaurant.

“Sometimes my coworkers would drop the food and put it back on the bun,” Nick told HuffPost. “I’ve seen it happen several times.”

The man continuously posted additional photos of other hidden corners of the kitchen, such as black dirt on McDonald’s other food-making machines. But he refused to identify the actual address of the McDonald’s he used to work in.

According to Louisiana Department of Health, there are two McDonald’s in Laplace.

McDonald’s Corp. China unit posted an official statement on China’s social media Weibo on Wednesday, clarifying all its ice cream machines and food-making facilities were clean and safe. 

“In China, ice cream machines are automatically disinfected every day to ensure food safety,” the statement reads. It says the firm is investigating the case in the US.

Currently the US Food and Drug Administration has joined in the investigation. If Nick’s photos are true, McDonald’s will be facing a large amount of fine.
