Chinese swimmer takes silver in women's 800m freestyle setting new Asian record

Chinese swimmer Li Bingjie took the silver medal in the women's 800m freestyle final on Saturday, setting a new Asian record at the 17th FINA World Championships in Budapest.

On the penultimate day of the Championships, the 15-year -old Chinese swimmer finished in 8 minutes and 15.46 seconds.

Katie Ledecky from the US won the title in 8 minutes and 12.68 seconds, her fifth gold medal in Budapest and her 14th gold in three FINA World Championships. American Leah Smith won the bronze medal with a time of 8 minutes and 17.22 seconds. 

Another Chinese swimmer Zhang Yuhan finished the competition at sixth, coming in with a time of 8 minutes and 26.06 seconds.
