Korean Peninsula Diplomacy: DPRK cancels trip of orchestra team to South Korea

The DPRK has cancelled a trip by an "advance team" of its Samjiyon orchestra to South Korea.
Pyongyang informed Seoul of its decision through the newly-reopened Panmunjom communication channel. 140 members of the Samjiyon orchestra were scheduled to perform in South Korea during Pyeongchang Winter Olympic Games next month. Pyongyang initially proposed sending the team to inspect venues and facilities for the musical group.
In the Swiss city of Lausanne, discussion is underway to determine the details of the DPRK's athletic participation at the Pyeongchang Games. A senior official from the International Olympic Committee said the organization welcomes Pyongyang and Seoul's decision, to form a joint women's ice hockey team.
