China Central Television's Spring Festival Gala for the coming Year of the Dog is nine days away. The second rehearsal for the grand event began on Monday.

This year's gala will be staged live from studios in Beijing and four other major Chinese cities. One of the highlights this year is the integration of international elements. Language programs include a story reflecting the friendship between China and Africa in the development of the Belt and Road initiative. In addition, foreign actors will perform songs, dance numbers, acrobatics, and even magic tricks.

The CCTV Gala has long been part of Chinese New Year celebrations. The program has been a must-see since the 1980s. It's one of the most-watched shows in the country.
