Earlier, the French president spoke with CCTV, and shared his vision for China-France relations, and his views on the Belt and Road Initiative.
EMMANUEL MACRON FRENCH PRESIDENT "I am very glad to go to China, to visit Xi'an and Beijing. I hope, with determination and humility, to build a new relationship with China. The beginning of a new year is also special for China. It is time to start a new era. I think the world is at a crossroads. The world is experiencing crisis and revolution. Some international organizations are becoming more fragile, and the international balance has been broken. I think China and Europe, especially France, have a role to play. During this visit, I want to discuss multiple issues with Chinese President Xi Jinping. I will be friendly and sincere because I want to build a new relationship with China and I hope together we can define a vision for our bilateral relations."
EMMANUEL MACRON FRENCH PRESIDENT "I will hold talks over the Belt and Road Initiative with Chinese leaders. I noticed that the content of this proposal has been constantly enriched. So I need to deepen my understanding of the initiative. If it helps promote stability and balance, then we could participate. I also attach great importance to economic development. I am interested in how this initiative could offer a chance for countries to advance their economy while safeguarding their sovereignty. I take a very positive stance towards the proposal."
