China’s Twitter fined 30,000 yuan for spreading porn

Chinese media regulators have slapped the country’s equivalent of Twitter with a fine of 30,000 yuan (about 4,400 US dollars) and a formal warning for disseminating pornography.

The office said the government is determined to crack down on such online material, and that popular platforms like Weibo should set an example in strengthening the management of content.
Earlier this year, the National Office against Pornographic and Illegal Publications launched a pornography crackdown targeting online streaming and instant messaging and cloud storage services.
