US Budget Debate: Senate announces $300 billion bipartisan spending bill

A possible breakthrough in the US budget fight that could prevent another government shut down.
The White House and Senate say they have reached a two-year 300-Billion dollar deal. It includes a spending boost for defense and domestic programs. Immigration is not included. Senators are hoping to debate that separately. The budget deal will likely be attached to a short-term spending bill in the Senate that the House passed on Tuesday. Known as a continuing resolution, it would keep the government funded through March 23. The budget plan now goes to the House of Representatives. The deadline to reach an agreement and get the bill to President Trump is Thursday.
