Hamas-Fatah Reconciliation: Rival Palestinian factions reach unity plan after 10-year split
[]
Egypt has brokered a reconciliation agreement between rival Palestinian groups Fatah, and Hamas. According to the agreement, Hamas will give over full control of the Gaza Strip, to a "reconciliation government" by December first at the latest. Our correspondent Adel EL Mahrouky has more on the new deal, and the potential it has to re-ignite peace talks with Israel.

Hope for a solution to the Palestinian Crisis reemerged once again from Cairo. Hamas and Fatah, the biggest two Palestinian factions say they will commit to make a reconciliation government succeed in taking full authority over both the Gaza strip and the West Bank.

AZZAM AL-AHMED HEAD OF FATAH DELEGATION "Everything has been scheduled, a firm deadline has been agreed upon for every step. They always say the Devil lies in the details. Not this Time. President Abo Mazen has told us not to return without a comprehensive agreement. We must fold the division page forever to unify the efforts of all Palestinians to achieve the Palestinian dream."

SALAH AL-AROURI HEAD OF THE HAMAS DELEGATION AND DEPUTY CHIEF "We are ready and prepared to do what it takes to put a permanent end to the reconciliation Issue. To focus our efforts against the Zionist project that is trying to diminish our rights. And to achieve the aspirations of our Palestinian people for a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital."

The Egyptian Intelligence bureau brokered this deal. And it's been assigned the duty to follow up the implementation of this new agreement. Hamas says that the reconciliation government will be allowed to spread its security troops in Gaza and that the Palestinian Presidential Guard will take control of the Strip's passages with Egypt and Israel, that should be relief to both countries.

MOSTAFA AMIN ARAB CENTRE FOR STUDIES "What's different this time is that there are many old issues that have been completely resolved, like the future of Hamas's employees who Fatah has strictly refused to merge them in government structure, that is will be resolved and it's a huge progress, the fate of those with crime records that too has been resolved. Even some of the Hamas's armed groups may now be part of a unified security body managed by the reconciliation government."

Egypt will host another meeting on November 21, that will include all Palestinian factions in the 2011 Cairo agreement, to give this new deal national legitimacy among all powers in Gaza and the West Bank.

ADEL EL MAHROUKY CAIRO "It's definitely an optimistic start for Palestinians to unify their lines in preparation of resuming peace talks. But there are still some unresolved issues, among them the structure of the elections system, the fate of those detained from Hamas and Fatah by the other group, the inclusion of Hamas in the PLO and the future of its Military wing All are crucial issues that have in the past doomed previous reconciliation efforts to failure."
