Meanwhile northern Italy is also seeing how avalanches and heavy snowfall are wreaking havoc.

One of the avalanches ploughed into a condominium, and some even busted through windows in the converted Olympic Village near Turin. Fortunately, no one was injured, but residents were asked to find other accommodation. Schools and several roads were still closed on Wednesday in the area. The removal of snow piles from roofs, terraces and ledges is in progress.
