Iranian President Hassan Rouhani meets with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday, to discuss projects in areas such as energy, infrastructure and technology.
Heading a high-ranking political and economic delegation, Iranian President Rouhani’s official visit began on Monday, after receiving an official invitation from Putin.
On the day of his arrival, Rouhani met with Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and said he hoped to reach “a new turning-point" in the development of the two countries’ relations.

During Rouhani’s two-day visit, he and his Russian counterpart are expected to discuss international and regional development, terrorism issues as well as bilateral relations. Iran’s semi-official Mehr News Agency reported earlier that there is hope that a road map for medium or long-term cooperation will be reached.
Conflict in the Middle East, particularly in Syria, has recently brought the two neighbors together for further cooperation.
Before he left for Moscow on Monday, Rouhani said to the media that the two countries are enjoying the highest level of cooperation on the crisis in Syria, the campaign against terrorism and the establishment of stability in the Middle East. Rouhani noted that “the two countries are also opposed to any shift in geographical borders in the region,” Iran's Press TV quoted Rouhani as saying.
Boosting cooperation between Tehran and Moscow will serve the interests of the two countries, as well as the entire Middle East region, he noted.
