Hoh Xil, also known as Kekexili in China's Qinghai Province, was listed as a natural site on the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage list on Friday, in the Polish city of Krakow. /VCG Photo

With its name meaning “beautiful girl” in Mongolian, the world’s third-least populated area and one of the world’s best-preserved nature reserves is known for its sublime plateau landscapes, formed by undulating snow-capped mountains that stretch beyond the horizon, valleys and glaciers as well as a wide spectrum of wildlife, including endangered Tibetan antelopes. /VCG Photo
