AFC Champions League - Final: Urawa Red Diamonds 1 - Al hilal 0
[]
We make our way to Japan, for the second leg of the AFC Champions League final, between hosts the Urawa Red Diamonds, and visiting Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia. The squads came into the contest tied 1-1 after the first game. Brazilian Rafael Silva, giving the hosts a lifeline with a crucial away goal in Riyadh, and the Reds forward would prove instrumental for his team again, as they seek their second continental crown.
Nil-Nil at the break, so we go to the second half, and the hosts have a free-kick from outside the area, Shinzo Koroki's header is on target, but Abdullah Al-Mayoof makes a glorious save, and keeps it from crossing the line. Still tied.
Things change in the 78th minute, Al Hilal are reduced to ten-men as Salem Al Dawsari is given his second yellow of the match for a hard challenge. Can't really argue that. If it stays tied, Urawa win on away goals.
But that would be unnecessary, as two minutes from time, Rafael Silva is sprung free, and the Brazilian unleashes a rocket from inside the area, and fires it into the roof of the net. The home crowd go nuts. The Brazilian shields the defender from the ball, and then is able to beat the keeper. A salute to the fans follows his goal. Urawa lead 1-nil in the game, and 2-1 on aggregate.
There would be no time for Al Hilal to mount a comeback, as the Japanese side hold on for a 2-1 aggregate win. There second continental crown, Al Hilal are runners-up for a second time in four years.
