We head over to Shanghai now for the fourth edition of "Run the Track". The event at the Shanghai International Circuit involves some ten thousand runners all bringing in the new year by testing their endurance.
The venue, in the Jiading district part of the city, is usually used for Motor sports events including the China Grand Prix and consists of nine straight tracks and 14 bends. 35-hundred runners are competing in the 21.6 kilometers race with a further six-thousand taking part in the more relaxed 5.4 kilometer run which is one lap of the circuit. Away from the track, competitors wrote on a large red placard giving their New Year's Resolution, also giving their best wishes for 2018. Getting their year off to a flying start is Li Wei who breaks the record for the fastest lap around the circuit in 16 minutes and 13 seconds on his way to winning the 21.6 event in one hour, seven minutes and eight seconds. The women's title goes to Zheng Zhiling after she crosses the finish line in one hour, 14 minutes and 46 seconds.
