Six miners were killed after being trapped in the flooded Dongyu Coal Mine in Qingxu County near Taiyuan, the capital of the coal-rich Shanxi Province on Monday night. Five other workers have been rescued from the mine. 

The rescue operation ended early on Wednesday morning, and the five survivors are receiving medical treatment. The mine is owned by the privately-run Shanxi Meijin Energy, which is currently under investigation.
